2 years a go today...

Two years a go today, at 10:00 A.M., Gabriel Allen Tharpe entered this world at Ireland Army Community Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. Mike and I could not get over how calm he was in the room. This morning as Mike was getting ready for work, he told me he remembered how Gabe was looking around in the room after they put the eye drops in his eyes. And how when I entered the room for the first time after recovery, when I said his name he turned his little head towards my voice. He slept great from the start, and started sleeping through the night as soon as we brought him home.

Getting back to this morning...Mike just had to go into Gabe's room to wish him Happy Birthday, so thanks to daddy, Gabe jumped up as soon as Mike whispered to him, and was ready to start the day. Thanks again daddy!

Happy Birthday Gabriel Allen Tharpe!!!

Today Gabe said his first sentence...

This morning, Gabriel spoke his first sentence! For some reason, he LOVES wearing his jacket around the house, and its so cute the way he says "jacket"! He usually goes to the closet door, opens it, and points to it and says, "Jacket!". This morning, we came downstairs after everyone woke up, and he saw it laying on the dining room chair. He ran over to it, got it, and ran back to me and said, "I got jacket!". It was the cutest thing ever.

Tomorrow is his second birthday. I am going to make him a cake, and when daddy gets home we will have a little party with just our little family.

Guess what Gabe said today?

This evening I was outside pushing Emma and Gabe in the swings, and Gabe pointed to the moon, and said, very clearly, "The moon!" He also points to airplanes (and helicopters) in the sky, and says, "Airplane!" And he also points to birds in the sky and says "Bird!"

I cannot believe he will be 2 on Friday. My baby is almost 2 years old! We will celebrate with a small family party on Friday for him, and then throw the big Tharpe bash for both Emma and Gabe on the 23rd at our house.

We had our family pictures, and Emma and Gabe's birthday pictures made on Saturday. I can't wait to see how they turn out! I know they will be great, since Jessica always does a great job!!

I know I posted a lot of different entries tonight, but I like to organize them! :) I function best with a little bit of organization. Okay, I am getting delirious. It's time to sign out for the night!

Some other pictures...

I actually pulled over and took this picture of Gabe "chillin' in the van, watching his favorite Dora movie!

Emma goes to school!

Emma started her new 4-year-old preschool class last Tuesday, August 5th. She didn't have any reservations about going. And when we got there, I took her back to her new classroom, and she went right in and started playing. I, on the other hand, found myself getting teary-eyed as I watched her through the one-way mirror outside. I was standing beside my friend Shannon, whose little boy Jonah is in Emma's playgroup and now is in her class. Jonah had a hard time when mommy left, so Shannon and I were sharing tears. I am so glad that Emma and Jonah are in the same class!

One of Emma's friends from her 3-year-old class, Lizzie, was throwing quite a tantrum. After class was over, I asked Emma if Lizzie was upset. And Emma said, "Lizzie was screaming. I had to cover my ears!" She always makes me laugh. She absolutely loves her new teacher--Mrs. Diana. She goes Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 until 12. I am so proud of my little preschool scholar!
